Santa And Union Members Tell Pace University:

NEW YORK, NY (12/12/2007)(readMedia)-- Santa Claus will join Pace University adjunct faculty and other unionists to demand that the university “show some respect” at a rally Thursday in New York City. Attendees will “carol” their concerns about Pace’s disrespectful treatment of adjunct faculty.

The rally will be held:

Thursday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. at Pace’s downtown campus, 1 Pace Plaza in Manhattan, just south of the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, near the corner of Spruce Street and Park Row.

The Pace adjuncts have been involved in protracted contract negotiations with the university for more than three years, as Pace has used delaying legal actions to prevent a fair agreement.

The Pace faculty will use the school’s Employee Recognition Day as an opportunity to tell the real story about Pace’s treatment of its staff.

“We deserve to be treated as professionals and compensated fairly by this university,” said John Pawlowski, president of the Union of Adjunct Faculty at Pace. “Let’s tell Pace that real employee recognition is union recognition.

“We are tired of the university’s stalling,” Pawlowski added. “The administration should stop wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting its own employees and our right to union recognition.”
