WALLA WALLA, WA (11/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Santa Cruz native Sophia Larsen recently gave a presentation to the Walla Walla School Board about the Story Time Project at Whitman College. The organization's goal is to ensure that all children in the Walla Walla community are prepared for kindergarten. Over 100 volunteers read to youth and get the children excited about learning. Larsen is in charge of coordinating the program and its volunteers.

Larsen is the daughter of Robin and Bruce Larsen from Santa Cruz. She is a 2011 graduate of Harbor High School.

At Whitman, Larsen is a sophomore and intends to major in Sociology. She enjoys tending to the school's organic garden, playing intramural tennis, and listening the a cappella groups.
