Santino Gabos of Beaver Meadows, Pa., Receives Wilkes University's Teresa Jordan and Frank Mehm Prize

WILKES-BARRE, PA (06/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Santino Gabos of Beaver Meadows, Pa., was one of two students recognized by Wilkes University with the Teresa Jordan and Frank Mehm Prize, awarded annually to the undergraduate who most nearly represents the ideal Wilkes student respecting moral courage, unselfishness, and noteworthy extracurricular participation significantly advancing the University on and off campus. Gabos was presented with the award at Wilkes University's 64th Annual Spring Commencement ceremony on May 21.

Gabos graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He has been editor of the Amnicola, the University yearbook, served as an e-mentor and a member of the University Judicial Council. He has been recognized by the Center for Global Education and Diversity for his outstanding work with our international students and was awarded the Interfaith Leadership Award. Gabos also received the Keith Topfer Memorial Award for his work in cooperative education. While at Wilkes, Gabos was the recipient of the Umid R. and Omar U. Nejib Scholarship. He is the son of Roseann and Calvin Gabos and graduate of Hazleton Area High School. Following graduation, he begins full-time work as an engineer at First Quality Nonwovens in Hazle Township, Pa.
