Sara Watson of Odessa Presents Paper at a Statewide Math Conference

GEORGETOWN, TX (11/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Sara Watson of Odessa was one of 25 students who presented talks at the 8th Annual Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, which was held at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches Oct. 26-27.
Watson presented a talk titled "A Finely Tuned Model," using matrices to represent different musical tuning systems from Pythagorean to Just Intonations.
Watson is a senior mathematics and music major at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Her talk was based on research she is doing for her capstone project under the direction of Therese Shelton, associate professor of mathematics.
Watson is the daughter of Sherrill Watson. She is a graduate of Odessa High School.
