SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Sarah C. Dougal of Wilbraham received four awards during Baccalaureate ceremonies at Western New England University. Dougal was named the recipient of the Westfield Bank Award for Outstanding Full-time Student in Finance, the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence, the Maria Leonard Book Award, and the Alumni Award.
The Westfield Bank Award is given to a graduating senior selected by the faculty for academic excellence. The Dean's Award is given to the graduating senior with the highest GPA within the College of Business. The Maria Leonard Book Award is given to a graduating senior who is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and who best reflects the standards of excellence for which the society is based upon; intellectual engagement and noteworthy citizenship in the academic community. The Alumni Award is given to the graduating senior with the highest GPA in the graduating class.
Dougal graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and graduated with a major in Finance and a minor in Psychology. While at Western New England, she worked as a research assistant in the University's psychology department and presented an academic research paper called "Internalized Stigma Experiences Among Women" at the Eastern Psychological Association Conference in Cambridge.
