ALBANY, NY (11/18/2022) (readMedia)-- Most School budgets have no money alloted for teachers who need supplies for their students. This new School supply center will provide school supplies free of charge for any teacher in the Capital District.
Former Mayor Jerry Jennings and District Attorney David Soares along with Pastor Charlie Muller will cut the ribbon on this much needed store at 10 A.M. Saturday at the Westgate Building next to Westgate Shopping Center.
This new store is fully furnished with every item a teacher would need for their students. Mayor Jennings understands the need because of his former years in the education systenm.
When: Saturday November 19th. 10 A.M.
Where: 10 North Russel Rd Albany next to Westgate Shopping Center in the Westgate Building.
Who: Many teachers from the Capital District, Former Mayor Jerry Jennings, District Attorney David Soares many who have helped finance this new venture.
Calls have been coming in from teachers in 6 different districts and the need is far greater then we ever thought.
Every year for the last 16 years Pastor Charlie has had a backpack with school supply giveaway. Not realizing the need was far greater and this is a way to meet the need throughout the year.
The Westgate building was purchesed two years ago to help hurting children throughout the Capital District and it already has a store that supplies all the needs foster children and teens may have. The foster store has a shoe department clothing department personal items and luggage and more.
Now this new store for teachers will provide anything a teacher would need from 140 dollar calculaters to guitars for music class.
Pens,notebooks,backpacks,handwipes,tissue,staplers,hole punches,sissiors, and much more. This new store is very large and can serve 100's of teachers. That is the plan and this grand oppening will be a new begining for help for our teachers.
