KERRVILLE, TX (04/04/2013)(readMedia)-- Schreiner University has selected its 2013-2014 Welch Scholars. Beth Fawcett of Boerne, Brooke Bailey of Kerrville and Daniel Hicks of Mount Vernon have been selected from the largest applicant pool to date. Their appointments will start at the beginning of the summer 2013 term and last throughout the year.
Fawcett will be under the direction of Kiley Miller, Ph. D., and will be working on the environmental analysis of triclosan. Bailey will be traveling to Colorado State University, Fort Collins to work with Mark Brown, Ph. D. on cancer cell manipulation. She will be the first student to travel externally through this program. Hicks will be under the direction of Danette Vines, Ph.D. and will be working on the synthesis of chalcones.
The Welch Foundation supports fundamental chemical research at universities, colleges, or other educational institutions within the state of Texas.
