HARTSVILLE, S.C. - (08/26/2013)(readMedia)-- The South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Student-Faculty Research Program has awarded a grant to Coker College student Kristen Oliver, from Ladson, S.C., working on a collaborative project with Jennifer Borgo, assistant professor of biology, and Rebecca Heiss, a member of the biology faculty at the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics. Oliver, Borgo and Heiss received the grant for their project titled "The Bacterial Kill Properties of Uropygial Gland Secretions in Passerines Found in South Carolina."
