Scott Steiber, Interned With Quicken Loans, Ashland University

ASHLAND, OH (11/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Pleasant Ridge resident Scott Steiber, who is a senior marketing major at Ashland University, interned at Quicken Loan in Detroit, Michigan, over the summer. He was under the supervision of AJ Wydra.

Steiber is the son of Art and Chris Steiber of Pleasant Ridge. He is a 2009 graduate of Clawson High School.

"Quicken Loans is a mortgage lender specializing in online mortgages. Although it is a mortgage company, it also prides itself on marketing and technology," says Steiber.

While interning at Quicken Loans, Steiber worked on the internet marketing team. A few of Steiber's responsibilities ranged from adding content on the website to uploading testing info to a library.

"I was in charge of reviewing a sweepstakes website and compiling a list of suggested changes," he said. "For another sweepstakes I managed a project to create a dock that promoted the sweepstakes on the website."

Steiber said he has learned a great deal from his internship over the summer, learning about strategies and programs used to optimize the website. He also developed high management and communication skills by being given responsibility of certain projects.

"My core marketing classes helped prepare me in how and what to think about during different tasks and projects," he said. "They prepared me to be able to effectively communicate information."

When asked if his internship changed his career plans, Steiber replied, "Yes, before the internship I had not put too much thought into digital marketing." Now Steiber is considering digital marketing as an option and after graduation in May, he said he would like to work for a marketing firm that specializes in digital marketing.
