Seasoned Competitor Wins State Fair Spice Competition

DES MOINES, IA (08/12/2017) (readMedia)-- Cheryl Rogers of Ames won first place Overall in the Spice It Up With Pampered Chef competition, judged Thursday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Entrants were tasked with creating an award worthy dish using any of Pampered Chef's three new seasonings: Carnitas Slow Cooker Seasoning, Korean Barbecue Rub or Herb and Onion Slow Cooker Seasoning.

Entries were judged on taste, presentation and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
