Seattle native Chloe Kinsey receives award upon graduation from Whitman College

WALLA WALLA, WA (06/05/2013)(readMedia)-- Chloe Kinsey of Seattle, Wash. was honored with an award upon her graduation from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash.

Kinsey was selected as a recipient of the Ely Chertok Award in Sociology. This award was established in 1965 to recognize one senior sociology major who has written a thesis demonstrating careful and thoughtful study about the nature of man in society.

In addition to this individual award, Kinsey was elected as a new member of Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society that recognizes students who have succeeded academically in a wide variety of courses in the arts and sciences, including mathematics and foreign language. The Whitman chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was founded in 1920.

Kinsey is the daughter of Sarah Patterson and Chuck Kinsey and a 2009 graduate of Holy Names Academy. She received a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Spanish during the Whitman commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19.
