Lawmakers and advocates urge Albany lawmakers to prioritize anti-poverty bills that impact women; Women make up 55% of New Yorkers earning low wages

NEW YORK, NY (03/23/2023) (readMedia)-- On Friday, State Senator Jessica Ramos, Raise Up New York, Vote Mama, and Downtown Women for Change will hold a press conference to advocate for several pieces of state legislation that aim to lift New York women out of poverty. Lawmakers, impacted workers, and advocates are calling for the passage of anti-poverty legislation in this year's state budget, including raising the minimum wage to $21.25 before indexing, advancing access to affordable child care, domestic worker paid sick leave, and guaranteed income for new mothers.
