DES MOINES, IA (09/17/2013)(readMedia)-- Race down Grand Avenue and around the sculptures in Western Gateway Park in Run DMU, Des Moines University's annual 5K. The race kicks off on Friday, September 20, at 6 p.m. in front of the University.
With a new, improved race route, Run DMU provides a scenic run by the Pappajohn Sculpture Park before returning to campus. Post-race osteopathic manual medicine (OMM) treatments, physical therapy screens, foot screenings and first aid are available to participants at the finish line along with great food and prizes.
"We're excited Run DMU has grown over the last five years and now serves ans an event fundraiser for the University," said Ronnette Vondrak, DMU alumni director. "Plus, the race directly aligns with our commitment to promoting health and wellness in the community."
Registration is $25 through September 19 and $30 on the day of the race. Youth 12 and under are $15. Teams of 10 or more receive a group rate. Runners, walkers, strollers and pets are welcome. Registration includes a race shirt, bib and sport tag. Awards will be given for each age category and overall winners.
