CAMDEN, NJ (08/23/2010)(readMedia)-- The South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre organization located in Camden, New Jersey announces the opening of its sixth season Friday, September 10, 2010 with a four week production of "Last Rites" written by Joseph M. Paprzycki and directed by Christopher "Jumbo" Schimpf. The opening night show will also mark the official opening of the new 96 seat Waterfront South Theatre, the professional theatre home of the South Camden Theatre Company.
Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, "My play, 'Last Rites' is set in Camden, New Jersey in 1967 as the neighborhood's blue collar workers visit my grandparent's local bar, Walt's Café, amid the economic and social change that was occurring in the city as the local shipyard closes. We open the Waterfront South Theatre at the original site of this former bar that has been rebuilt into the Waterfront South Theatre. Seeing South Camden Theatre Company's production of 'Last Rites' allows the audience to experience Camden's vibrant past, rapid decline, and current transformation from a seat in the new Waterfront South Theatre."
Performances will be held Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at 1:30pm. September 10 - October 3 at the Waterfront South Theatre located at 400 Jasper Street in Camden, New Jersey. Tickets are available for purchase for $15 online at http://www.southcamdentheatre.org, by calling 1-866-811-4111 or at the door.
