State DOT Sets May 7th Hearing On Covington Street Rail Crossing
CSX Asks to Close the Crossing in Fort Covington, Franklin County
ALBANY, NY (03/22/2013)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 7, in Fort Covington, Franklin County, regarding a CSX Transportation request to close the Covington Street at-grade rail crossing in Fort Covington. The hearing, the second on this request, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fort Covington Town Hall, 2510 Chateaugay Street, Fort Covington, New York, 12937.
An initial hearing was held in 2007 and NYSDOT directed that the crossing be closed, conditioned upon the construction of a connector road south of and parallel to the railroad tracks. That connector road has not been built. The upcoming hearing will establish a record that will help determine what, if any, additional actions should be taken.
NYSDOT Chief Administrative Law Judge Robert A. Rybak will preside over the hearing.
Parties are asked to advise the Office of Proceedings (518-457-1182) if a sign language interpreter, an assistive listening system or any other accommodations will be required to facilitate participation in this hearing.
Parties who wish to receive a copy of the final report issued in this case must send a written request to the Office of Proceedings, NYSDOT, 50 Wolf Road, Albany, New York 12232.
