State DOT Slates Hearing About Request To Move LIRR Pedestrian Crossing

July 25 Hearing in Oyster Bay to Focus on Relocation, Park Access

ALBANY, NY (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 25, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Oyster Bay, Suffolk County, regarding the town's request to relocate an at-grade pedestrian crossing over the Long Island Railroad tracks near Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay.

NYSDOT Acting Chief Administrative Law Judge Robert A. Rybak will preside over the hearing at the Oyster Bay Community Center, Church Street, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. The hearing will establish a record and enable a determination as to whether relocating the crossing is in the best public interest. The NYSDOT case number for the request is 38624.

The town of Oyster Bay requested the hearing because it is making improvements to the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. As a part of those improvements, the town would like to relocate an at-grade pedestrian crossing to the northerly end of Audrey Avenue. This change would allow for a more direct access route to the park from the downtown Oyster Bay area and would complement proposed improvements to the historic Oyster Bay Train Station.

Please contact NYSDOT's Office of Proceedings (518-457-1182) if a sign language interpreter, an assistive listening system or any other accommodations will be required to facilitate participation in this hearing.

Parties planning to attend this hearing should confirm the day before the hearing that it has not been adjourned, especially in case of inclement weather, by calling the Office of Proceedings or going to NYSDOT's website at https://www.nysdot.gov/divisions/legal-services-division/hearing-notices.
