Statement from Environmental Advocates of New York in Response to Scientists' Fracking Concerns
ALBANY, NY (09/15/2011)(readMedia)-- In response to a letter sent to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo today by Physicians, Scientists & Engineers for Healthy Energy, Environmental Advocates of New York released the following statement:
"Governor Cuomo and the Department of Environmental Conservation should take heed when independent physicians, engineers and experts tell you that the science doesn't back up the state's proposal to guide hydraulic fracturing or 'fracking.'
These scientists are saying what New Yorkers have known all along. If New York's water is contaminated by fracking fluids our drinking water is at risk, and our filtration systems cannot protect us."
