Statement from Governor David A. Paterson

ALBANY, NY (11/25/2010)(readMedia)-- "As we join with friends and family to celebrate this Thanksgiving, many New Yorkers are stretching their dollars a bit further and learning to do more with less. Whatever our individual circumstances, I urge all this holiday season to focus on what we are grateful for.

"Most importantly, let's remember to help those in need.

"Here in Albany, I attended the 41st Annual Equinox Community Dinner, joining more than 3,000 volunteers who will come together to serve 9,000 Thanksgiving meals to their neighbors. The selfless dedication of these New Yorkers embodies the true spirit of Thanksgiving, and they are not alone. Across our great State, New Yorkers are joining together in the spirit of fellowship and sacrifice to make this a memorable Thanksgiving for those in need.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I also wish to extend our gratitude and humble respect to our brave men and women in uniform, many of whom are unable to spend this holiday with their families and loved ones back home.

"Throughout this holiday season, it is my hope that values of service, family, and community that draw us together this time of year carry us forward as we continue to put New York back on the path to economic recovery in 2011.

"On behalf of the entire Paterson family, I wish all New Yorkers a safe and happy Thanksgiving."
