STAUNTON, VA (06/08/2011)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department has collaborated with the leaders of Jazz in the Park (Staunton Rotary), Praise in the Park (Linden Heights Baptist Church) and The Stonewall Brigade Band (Bob Moody) to enhance the Staunton community with Summer performances on weekday evenings at the Bandstand in Gypsy Hill Park. The atmosphere is family friendly and this year we have the fine new addition of the fully equipped Bob Moody Concession Stand. Local organizations and service clubs will provide refreshments for purchase at this summer-long event. This organized effort is reflected in the attached postcard of performances and should provide a great reference tool. This postcard is refrigerator worthy and will also be available at area hotels, visitors centers and in our park system.
On Monday evenings beginning at 8pm, the Stonewall Brigade Band will perform. Praise In The Park will begin at 7pm on Tuesday evenings with the start date of July 5th featuring Doyle Moats Jr. and Counterpoint. Wednesday evenings are reserved for Staunton Parks and Recreation's Wednesday Night Bluegrass. This kicks off on July 13th with Hound Dog Hill and Jr. Sisk and Ramblers Choice at 8pm. Jazz in The Park is a staple on Thursday evenings. Their first concert will be on July 7th featuring Gypsy Roots Jazz at 8pm. Family Night Flix hosted by Staunton Parks and Recreation will take place on various Friday evenings (see attached schedule).
Our Neighbors and Visitors are welcome to join Stauntonians at this free summer long event in Staunton's Town Square known as Gypsy Hill Park. Don't forget your lawn chairs, blankets and make sure you come hungry as we bust out some great tunes, whip up tasty treats and bask in the joy of Gypsy Hill Park.
