STAUNTON, VA (04/18/2012)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department will be "Celebrating Girls Around the World" at the 5th Annual All Girls Conference. On Saturday, April 21, 2012, the 5th Annual All Girls Conference will be held at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Staunton. The AGC event is designed to nurture the positive development of teenaged girls. Through informational booths and educational workshops, AGC aims to provide girls with the resources needed to make informed life decisions. This year's morning speaker will be Berra Kabarungi, originally from Rwanda, worked for Women for Women organization and now attends Mary Baldwin College. She will also host one of the workshops titled, "Genocide in Rwanda": How Women and Girls are Picking Up the Pieces".
The event begins at 10am and includes 11 different workshops ranging from healthy eating habits to Zumba to basic car care for girls. There will be a multi-cultural fashion show, free breakfast and lunch, door prizes, VIP bags and a special guest appearance from Lashawnda Weatherspoon, Miss Augusta County Fair 2011.
