STAUNTON, VA (11/24/2010)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to weight in on community programming and resource allocation. Let us know what you think. Log on to our SurveyMonkey webpage (see below) to join in our virtual focus group. You never have to leave home to participate and have your voice heard in this focus group. The best part is that there is only 1 Question. It is that simple and convenient.

Why is Staunton Parks and Recreation doing this?

There are a couple of reasons we are doing this. Presently we base much community programming on the results of our 2007 Needs Assessment. Though our Needs Assessment of 2007 is a dandy piece of significant research data, it is a little outdated thanks to the 2008 fluctuation in the economy. Also, "needs assessments" tend to dictate desires and demands versus identifying actual "needs". We are thinking of "needs" in terms of deep community issues that currently should to be addressed. We think some new issues have come to the forefront in recent years due to the frail economy, but in order to redirect departmental resources we need accurate back-up data. Driven by a desire to serve Staunton with the best possible recreation programs and places, and because we are not afraid of the public process, we are asking the community to join with us in the "Let's Make Staunton Great!" campaign. Everyone is invited to have their voice heard in a virtual focus group. More simply, we are asking the community to complete a ONE question on-line survey (see details below).

Virtual Focus Group with 1 question survey is part of the new Recreation 3.0 Campaign that will be featured in the upcoming Winter 2011 brochure.
