SCRANTON, PA (03/13/2018) Steven J. Scheinman, M.D., president and dean of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and chief academic officer at Geisinger, was invited by The Patient Safety Movement Foundation to chair its "Patient Safety Curriculum in Schools" panel and to moderate the discussion at the foundation's sixth annual World Patient Safety, Science and Technology Summit Feb. 23-25 in London, England.
The 2018 summit brought together international hospital leaders, medical and information technology companies, the patient advocacy community, public-policy makers and government officials to discuss solutions to the leading challenges that cause preventable patient deaths in hospitals across the world.
The event included keynote addresses from leading political figures, such as Jeremy Hunt, a member of Parliament and the Secretary of Health for the United Kingdom; Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization; and patient safety experts, healthcare technology firms and patient advocates.
The Patient Safety Movement Foundation's goal is zero preventable deaths by 2020.
