Stevens Point native honored by Marquette University's Department of Biological Sciences

MILWAUKEE, WI (05/23/2013)(readMedia)-- MILWAUKEE – Melissa Budelier, daughter of Jeff Budelier and Cheryl Thompson, was honored with the Research Award in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by Marquette University's Department of Biological Sciences. Budelier, of Stevens Point, Wis., graduated in May with a bachelor of science in biochemistry with a second major in molecular biology.

The Department of Biological Sciences Research Award in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology recognizes outstanding achievement in research by a junior or senior majoring in the Department of Biological Sciences. The award committee selects the winner from nominations from faculty of students who have displayed talent for research, including initiative, independence and the ability to design and carry out experiments on their own.

Budelier conducted her research with Martin St. Maurice, assistant professor of biological sciences.
