Strummers Take the Stage at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/14/2019) (readMedia)-- Fourteen strummers competed in Pioneer Hall in the Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar Competition on Saturday at the 2019 Iowa State Fair.

The contest was open to players of any age.

Entries were judged on three selections and were played by ear or from memory.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
