Student Daniel Weir Making His Mark in FSU's President's Leadership Circle

FROSTBURG, MD (03/12/2014)(readMedia)-- FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State University student Daniel Weir of Hagerstown, Md., is making his mark in the President's Leadership Circle for the 2013-2014 academic year. Weir, nominated from among FSU's finest students, was selected for demonstrating significant leadership in and out of the classroom.

Weir has a double major in history and political science. He has been to the Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership and remains involved with the History Department through ongoing research, the Glenn J. Beall Institute for Public Affairs and the honors program. Weir is also a Bobcat Ambassador, a member of the Residence Life Office staff as head resident and the National Residence Hall Honorary president.

PLC members are provided a variety of opportunities to further develop their leadership skills and steward relevant causes through their proven capabilities in the classroom and community. They may enhance their intercultural communication skills with opportunities to engage in a service-learning project in another culture, network with distinguished alumni, interact with the University's leadership team and share their perspectives about FSU. Other PLC requirements include having completed 75 or more credit hours and having earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

In past years, PLC students have held significant leadership positions on campus. Other members have demonstrated their leadership by the contributions they have made to the campus community and the respect they have earned among faculty, staff and students alike.
