Missouri University of Science and Technology's gold team finished in third place in the field portion of the Missouri Mine Rescue Contest that was held Sept. 24-26 at the university. The students competed against seven professional and two student mine rescue teams. Missouri S&T's black team finished seventh in the field portion of the competition and won the in-state trophy for its performance against five Missouri teams in the underground portion of the contest. The competition involves a mine disaster simulation that is set up and monitored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.
