HARTSVILLE, S.C. (06/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Susan Allen Morano, of Somerset, N.J., was recently honored during Coker College's Alumni Weekend with the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is given each year to an individual considered most outstanding in career achievement.
After receiving her degree from Coker in 1969, Susan taught in Taylors, S.C., before moving to New Jersey in 1976 where she previously worked for LCP Chemical Company and served as a regional manager for Atari Computers. In 1984, her interest in the health food industry led her to open Suzanne's Specialties, a producer and packer of naturally-sweetened grain-based products in New Brunswick, N.J. The company's main goal is to satisfy the customer, and it operates on the basis that every individual should be treated with respect, courtesy, tact and consideration.
Morano is a member of the Organic Trade Association and the National Health Foods Association. Suzanne's Specialties was named to the Wall Street Journal's 2010 Top 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Led Companies list. She was also listed in the 2005 Whole Foods Who's Who of Manufacturers and has been honored by the Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) and the Association of Women in Natural Foods (A.W.I.N.).
