For the first time in program history, the Rockford University football team had a pair of players named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Defensive tackle Takhari Bowens and punter Kieran Trevier each earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week for the first time in their careers. Bowens becomes just the second RU defensive player (Dylan Peterson) and Trevier becomes the first ever RU special teams player to receive the honor. This also marks the first time since 2018 that a Regent has earned a weekly award from D3football.com (Peterson).
Defensive tackle Takhari Bowens wreaked havoc on the CUW offense throughout the game on Saturday. He tallied 5 solo tackles including 3 sacks totaling 28 yards. He also forced a fumble as a part of a Rockford defense that created six turnovers in a 20-14 win over Concordia Wisconsin.
The RU football team returns to the field on Saturday, April 10 at Eureka College. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM.
