Taste of the Catskills Will Tingle Your Tastebuds and Get Your Toes Tappin'

Locavore beer, wine and food festival in Delhi, NY

DELHI, NY (09/30/2010)(readMedia)-- Celebrate the rich cultural and agricultural traditions of the western Catskills at the Taste of the Catskills Festival, being held for the first time on Saturday and Sunday, October 9 & 10, at Maple Shade Farm, Delhi. Rain or Shine. Attendees will get to wander the tents and farm for two days of great local food, wine and beer, lots of music, activities for young and older, craft vendors, gallery exhibit of local artists, and a Farm Store bursting with the riches of our Catskill Harvest.

Maple Shade Farm is located just outside of the village of Delhi in an idyllic setting of lush rolling hills nestled beside the lazy West Branch of the Delaware River. It has one of the area's most beautiful, restored barns. During the Festival, the farm will provide a perfect setting for a variety of family centered events: hayrides, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, corn maze, children's farm store, puppet show by the Catskill Puppeteers.

Live music by local bands will begin at noon on each day, with the first concert geared for children and end with a dance each evening and a bonfire.

Under the heated tent, you will find a variety of vendors as well as local foods prepared by the Quarter Moon Café and others. Wines and beers of the region will be available at the bar.

The barn will house a petting zoo and a place for workshops as well as the Farm Store which will highlight a bountiful selection of locally harvested vegetables and fruits, value added food products and crafts from local artisans. Chemical and hormone free meats from local farmers will also be available for retail sale, so bring a cooler to stock up your freezer for the winter. There will tastings all day of local cheeses from Brovetto's of Harpersfield, Painted Goat of Garrattsville, Deysenroth's of Delhi, and Sherman Hill Farm of Franklin.

The barn will also host a gallery exhibit of local artists curated by the Viviana Hansen Gallery in Delhi.

Admission: $5 adult, $1 a foot for children. Advance on-line ticket purchases get a free glass of Ommegang beer. Locavore dinner $15: Saturday brisket and chicken; Sunday pork roast and turkey.
