Terra Winthrop Inducted Into Oglethorpe University's Athletic Hall of Fame
New Port Richey Native Honored for Athletic Excellence
ATLANTA, GA (05/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Terra Winthrop, a 1996 graduate of Oglethorpe University, was recently inducted in the university's athletic hall of fame.
A New Port Richey native, Winthrop attended Ridgewood High School where she was played on the Varsity Soccer team for four years, during which the school won four district titles and was a regional runner up.
During three seasons at Oglethorpe, Winthrop played in 51 games, scoring 45 career goals and dishing 16 assists for a total of 106 career points. She averaged 2.67 points per game which placed her as 10th all-time in SCAC history. Winthrop was named to the First Team All-SCAC in 1994 and named to the SCAC Second Team in 1995.
Winthrop completed the Police Academy in 2000 and became a Deputy Sheriff with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. She was promoted to Corporal and works in an area high school as a school resource officer.
Oglethorpe University was founded in 1835 and enrolls 1,100 students representing 34 states and 28 countries. Oglethorpe is a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America's most selective liberal arts institutions.
