Students, faculty, and staff members from all four Schools of the College participated in the Special Olympics competition for the Public School Sports League (PSSL). The PSSL is a consortium of middle and high schools students from Westchester and Putnam counties.
"I am always in awe of the generosity of our community who come out on days like this to be of service to others," said Helen Wolf, Director of Campus Ministry, which organized the event.
Students, faculty and staff organized and refereed basketball and football games, facilitated health check-up stations, photographed the events, baked cupcakes for the PSSL athletes, and made monetary donations to purchase items for a goodie bag for each of the PSSL athletes.
Members of the CNR Community were also involved in community service activities on all city campuses of the College's School of New Resources. Approximately 200 students, faculty and staff from all six campuses of The College of New Rochelle participated in this annual volunteer day. Says Helen Wolf, "The College of New Rochelle responds to the Gospel call to help those in need: feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the imprisoned and the sick. This call in Matthew's Gospel teaches its readers that it is by service to those in need that humanity will find the road to God."
