This spring, The College of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle YMCA will partner in Y PowerUP, a special program to empower young women and foster leadership. High school students from New Rochelle, Pelham, and Mount Vernon will be selected to participate in various lectures that feature exceptional women of Westchester.

New Rochelle YMCA created "Y PowerUP" as an opportunity for young women to meet and discuss topics and interests in a supportive and encouraging environment. The lectures and discussion forums are being given by women business and community leaders of Westchester, and have been designed by Y Power UP to foster leadership, empowerment, and life skills.

According to Karen Collins of the New Rochelle YMCA Board of Directors, "Y PowerUP seeks to nurture the potential of every youth. We know that through knowledge, character development, guidance and encouragement, young people will realize their full potential and become positive and active members of their communities."

Speaking at the opening lecture in March will be Judith Huntington, President of The College of New Rochelle. In May, Mindy Meads, former CEO of AĆ©ropostale, will speak to program participants.

Invited students from various teenage clubs, associations, and schools will also have the opportunity to meet new friends and talk informally with undergraduate women attending The College of New Rochelle.
