The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York to Host Public Information Forum

Meeting will provide facts on all facets of natural gas exploration

LAKEVIEW, NY (04/29/2009)(readMedia)-- The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York (IOGA-NY) will host a public information forum to provide facts about natural gas exploration in New York State.

Industry professionals will provide details on the history of natural gas production in New York State, land leasing, the drilling process, and then participate in a question-and-answer session.

"The responsible men and women who work in New York's oil and gas industry fully understand residents' concerns regarding a possible new wave of natural gas exploration in the Marcellus Shale," said Brad Gill, Executive Director of IOGA-NY. "While natural gas exploration has been conducted safely in New York for decades, the public has been exposed to misinformation. We hope through a series of forums we can provide some clarity in that regard."

"Today, with advances in technology, it is possible to maintain our quality of life by producing clean-burning natural gas - without compromising our natural resources," said Gill. "At a time of financial hardship, we have the chance to provide an energy resource not only for our state, but nationwide - this is something New York should not miss out on."
