POTSDAM, NY (10/01/2015)(readMedia)-- From classic to contemporary, the tenth anniversary season of The Met: Live in HD will bring 10 exciting productions from the Metropolitan Opera to the movie screen in Potsdam again in 2015-16.

Sponsored in the North Country by SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music and J.S. Cinemas, the tenth season of the series is sure to captivate audiences, with live transmissions from the Metropolitan Opera stage beamed to silver screens in more than 2,000 movie theaters in 66 countries around the world.

The 2015-16 Live in HD season features 10 transmissions, offering a significant portion of the Met season to opera lovers around the world.

The season will open this weekend, with a screening of Verdi's "Il Trovatore," which has been called a return to opera's golden age. Anna Netrebko takes on her next new role at the Met as Leonora, the heroine who sacrifices her life for the love of the troubadour Manrico, sung by Yonghoon Lee. Dmitri Hvorostovsky is Count di Luna and Dolora Zajick sings Azucena in the production.

The Metropolitan Opera production of "Otello," which will screen live on Oct. 17, will feature Crane School of Music alumnus Dimitri Pittas '99, tenor, in the role of Cassio.

All performances will be screened at the Roxy Theater, in downtown Potsdam. Robotic cameras, strategically placed around and behind the stage, will capture the beauty and power of live performance from striking angles, and heighten attention to both performance and production. Intermission features and English subtitles will once again bring the stories to life.

All productions will be shown live worldwide on Saturdays. There will also be encore presentations offered on Sundays locally.

  • Giuseppe Verdi's "Il Trovatore": Live on Oct. 3 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore screening on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Giuseppe Verdi's "Otello": Live on Oct. 17 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Richard Wagner's "Tannheuser": Live on Oct. 31 at noon, with an encore on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
  • Alban Berg's "Lulu": Live on Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m., with an encore on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.
  • Georges Bizet's "Les Pêcheurs de Perles": Live on Jan. 16, 2016, at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot": Live on Jan. 30 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Giacomo Puccini's "Manon Lescaut": Live on March 5 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on March 20 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterfly": Live on April 2 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on April 17 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Gaetano Donizetti's "Roberto Devereux": Live on April 16 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore that same evening at 6:30 p.m.
  • Richard Strauss's "Elektra": Live on April 30 at 12:55 p.m., with an encore on May 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets prices are the lowest available in the nation: $18 for an adult, $15 for senior citizens, $12 for students and $9 for youth age 18 and under.
