ALBANY, NY (09/11/2014)(readMedia)-- The New York Bar Foundation is currently accepting applications for its upcoming grant cycle.
The Foundation's grant program assists non-profit organizations with law-related projects that: facilitate the delivery of legal services to those in need; improve the justice system and the law; enhance professional competence and ethics; and increase public understanding of the law.
Applications, guidelines and previous grant recipients are available on The Foundation website at www.tnybf.org. Average grants range between $2,000 and $10,000. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2014.
The Foundation will also select The Joan L. Ellenbogen Memorial Fellowship recipient during this cycle. Through a generous gift from the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, one $5,000 grant will be awarded to a public service or other nonprofit organization in New York state to conduct The Joan L. Ellenbogen Memorial Fellowship in 2015. The fellow will assist the grantee organization in matters relating to matrimonial law.
Qualified organizations with the need for a matrimonial law fellow are eligible to apply for the $5,000 grant by October 1, to receive funding in 2015 to conduct the fellowship.
Since 2008, The New York Bar Foundation has presented more than $4.5 million in grants to non-profit organizations and associations throughout New York that provide legal services to those in need. The Foundation also assisted with legal need relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Superstorm Sandy in 2013.
