GREENVILLE, PA (02/10/2012)(readMedia)-- On Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., five students will be inducted into the Alpha Iota Kappa chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honorary society, at Thiel College during a special ceremony in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. Friends and family of the inductees are invited to attend the ceremony.
The students to be inducted include junior Kendall DeLashment (English writing) of Calumet Park, Ill.; junior Caitlin Ferry (communication sciences & disorders) of Brookville, Pa.; junior Kayla Ohlin (accounting and business administration) of New Middletown, Ohio.; sophomore Calla Parker (medical technology) of Hermitage, Pa.; and sophomore Leanna Yeager (English/secondary education certification) of Poland, Ohio.
Officers for 2012-2013 will be installed and include Emily Whipple, president, of Rochester, Pa.; Leanna Yeager, vice president; Keisha Shaw, secretary, of York, Pa.; Diana Slomainy, treasurer, of Arnold, Pa.; and Kendall DeLashment, student government representative.
Dr. Robert C. Olson, Thiel College's 18th president, will deliver the invocation and Dr. James Boomfield, professor emeritus of history, will serve as the keynote speaker. Dr. Mary Theresa Hall, of the Thiel College English Department, has served as the group's adviser since its formation in 2000.
