This Saturday, May 22nd, BREATHE NYC Asthma Walk at Battery Park
Join the Lung Association's Fight for Clean Air and Healthy Lungs
NEW YORK, NY (05/20/2010)(readMedia)-- Join the American Lung Association in New York to walk 3 miles along the scenic promenade of Battery Park and Battery Park City and help make a difference in the fight for healthy lungs and clean air!
WHO: American Lung Association in New York
WHAT: BREATHE NYC Asthma Walk sponsored by Teva Pharmaceuticals, TD Bank and Clean Air New York.
WHEN: Saturday, May 22nd. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Battery Park. The Breathe NYC Asthma Walk will kick-off near Castle Clinton at Battery Park – a quick walk away from South Ferry and the Bowling Green subway station.
WHY: In New York State, an estimated 2.5 million people suffer from lung diseases including asthma, lung cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Walks are being held nationwide in an effort to bring attention to the devastating effects of lung disease. The proceeds from the BREATHE NYC Asthma Walk will support the American Lung Association in New York's research, education and advocacy programs.

Advance registration is recommended; however, registrations on the day of the walk will be accepted. All walkers must either turn in a minimum of $10 in pledges, or pay a $10 registration fee to participate.
Note to editors: There will be opportunities to film/photograph walk participants and speak with physicians who treat asthma and kids and parents affected by asthma. A spokesperson from the American Lung Association in New York will also be on site.
