Three Hartwick Hawks Named to Women's Volleyball CSC Academic All-District Team

College Sports Communicators announced their Academic All-District teams on Dec. 17 and three Hartwick Volleyball players received recognition.

Staecia Silofau of Kapolei, Hawaii makes her third-straight appearance on a CSC Academic All-District team. The senior nursing major was second on the team in kills, fourth in digs, and third in total blocks.

Shaelyn Thornton of Scarborough, Me. makes her second straight appearance. After transferring in from Colby Sawyer College for her sophomore year, the outside hitter and Public Health major made an immediate impact offensively and defensively for the Hawks. This past season, Thornton posted 230 kills, 27 aces, and 220 digs.

Also making her second straight appearance is Shelby Swartz of Candor, N.Y. A Biology and Psychology double-major, Swartz led the team with 240 kills, was second in aces and digs with 39 and 234 respectively.

All three Hawks earned Empire 8 All-Conference recognition while helping lead the team to their third 20-win in program history.

In order to be eligible for both All-District consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA or above and be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams.
