Three ISU College of Design student projects recognized in national Hospitality Design Awards competition

Of the five finalists in the student category of the 14th HD Awards competition, three were from Iowa State University, including the eventual winner. This national competition, sponsored by Hospitality Design magazine, recognizes outstanding projects in 23 categories related to the hospitality industry.

Recent ISU College of Design graduates Taylor Bryan and Holland Shodeen, both of whom received Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in interior design in May 2017, won with their "Arrowhead Resort" project developed in the spring 2017 interior design senior studio. The other Iowa State finalist projects included "The Isthmus" by Shawn Barron, May 2018 Master of Architecture graduate, and Matt Lechowicz, May 2018 Bachelor of Architecture graduate; and "Rainforest Hotel and Spa" by May 2018 BArch graduates Nolan Christensen and Lucas Confalionieri and May 2018 BFA in interior design graduate Kyla Peterson. The latter projects were developed in the interdisciplinary fall 2017 Panama integrative design studio. All three teams were honored at the HD Awards ceremony June 6 in New York City, and their work was published in the June issue of Hospitality Design.
