HARTSVILLE, SC (02/03/2012)(readMedia)-- HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College's head women's soccer coach Dan Muns announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play soccer for the Cobras in the fall 2012. Joining the women's team will be Jalynn Fortt, Danielle Goerler and Jessica Dellinger.
"All three of these young ladies are expected to make an immediate impact for us right away," said Muns. "We feel they will be an excellent complement to our current team. They all possess strengths that will allow us to play a competitive brand of soccer as we move forward in the growth of this program."
Fortt joins the Cobras from Aurora, Colorado, where she was a two-sport star at Rangeview High School, playing soccer and basketball. On the pitch she was named the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was an Eastern Metro Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference selection and was named All-City. An All-State Honorable Mention selection, the midfielder played for the U18 Storm Copa club team and is an Honor Roll student.
According to Muns, "Jalynn is a physical and dynamic athlete that can play either in the midfield or at forward. She brings outstanding experience to the squad."
Goerler, a forward, hails from Stallings, N.C. As a standout player for the Porter Ridge High School Pirates, Goerler was an All-Conference selection while helping lead her team to the conference championship. Equally active off the field, she is a member of the Interact Club and FCCLA, as well as being an Honor Roll student.
"Goerler has a great engine and loves to take people on with the ball," said Muns. "Her crossing and finishing are definite strengths."
Another North Carolina native, Dellinger comes to Coker from Independence High School in Mint Hill, N.C. The midfielder was a team captain for the Patriots and was named All-Conference and All-Region at Independence. She played club ball for the MUFC 94 Navy and MUFC 93 Navy, where she helped guide her club teams to back-to-back NCYSA State Cup Championships in 2009 and 2010.
"Jessica is a strong tackler, distributes well, and has an outstanding work ethic," said Muns about Dellinger.
These newcomers will join several other fresh faces on the Coker women's soccer team in the fall of 2012, as Coach Muns and the Cobras look to return to the top of the Conference Carolinas standings.
