LA MIRADA, CA (12/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Blake Shannon, Jr., one of the highest scoring and assisting guards in Tulare County history, signed his commitment to join Dr. Dave Holmquist's men's basketball team next fall.
The point guard has spent the last four years playing at Mission Oak High School and racking in the accolades. His scoring average has increased incrementally each of his four seasons and is currently at a sky-high 35 points per game midway through his senior campaign.
He runs the Hawks offense efficiently, averaging seven-plus assists over the past two seasons. Shannon, Jr. also serves as the vocal leader of the team on and off the court, serving as team captain and MVP in each of his first three seasons.
He is also a stellar student, he will bring a 4.0-plus grade point average into Biola, and he has been on the academic honor roll since he began high school.
Shannon, Jr. also participates in AAU basketball, playing on Team Superstar. Team Superstar is based in central California and has been the AAU program to feature numerous NBA and NCAA Division I players.
He has been playing basketball since third grade and will continue in his sport for at least four more years when he steps on the court for the Eagles next fall.
