Traffic Restrictions begin this Sunday on Northbound Route 1 Ramp at Turnpike Interchange
PennDOT work requires overnight detour for on-off traffic at the Bensalem Interchange (Exit #351)
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (06/17/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that the northbound Route 1 ramp will be closed to traffic and an overnight detour in effect for two weeks starting Sunday, June 19 at 11 p.m. to accommodate PennDOT repair work on the ramp bridge that carries northbound Route 1 traffic to and from the Turnpike's Bensalem (Exit #351) Interchange in Bucks County.
A contractor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be conducting bridge repairs on the Route 1 ramp, closing the ramp to traffic Sunday – Thursday nights (6/19-23 and 6/26-30) from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. The contractor anticipates work to be completed Friday morning July 1.
Advance warning signs, variable message boards, and the posted PennDOT approved detour route are in place to alert motorists of the overnight closure and detour.
Motorists leaving the Turnpike at the Bensalem Interchange to Travel north on Route 1 will exit onto southbound Route 1 and follow it to eastbound Route 132 (Street Road) and turn right and follow to northbound Route 1 ramp.
Route 1 North motorists will continue to the Neshaminy Interchange and exit the expressway. Motorists will then get on southbound Route 1 and follow to the Turnpike on-ramp at Bensalem.
Motorists can tune to 1640 AM, the Turnpike's Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) for up to the minute traffic and detour information. Please allow extra time when traveling through the area.
