Traffic Restrictions to Impact Travel on Northeastern Extension near Lehigh River Bridge in Carbon County
Roadway repairs, 20 minute stoppage and line painting scheduled Wednesday – Friday
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (11/17/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists traveling on the Northeastern Extension of the PA Turnpike between the Lehigh Tunnel and Mahoning Valley (Exit #74) Interchange to be prepared for bi-directional single-lane patterns to be in effect Wednesday (Nov. 17) and Thursday (Nov. 18) from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning, a 20 minute stoppage on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 1 p.m. and a daytime moving pattern on Friday (Nov. 18) between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Wednesday (Nov. 17) the northbound left lane will be closed between milepost A71.5-A75.2 and Thursday (Nov. 18) the southbound right lane will be closed between milepost A76.5-A73 for pothole repairs from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Additionally, on Thursday (Nov. 18) a 20-minute stoppage is scheduled for 1 p.m. Motorists traveling northbound approaching the Lehigh Tunnel and southbound before the Mahoning Valley Interchange should be prepared for slow moving and stopped traffic between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Highway Advisory Radio (1640AM) will be activated to provide updates.
Friday (Nov. 19) starting at 9 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. a bi-directional moving pattern will be conducted for line painting between milepost A71.5-A76.5.
Stay alert for slow moving construction vehicles and stopped traffic. Motorists are urged to obey posted speed limits and use extra caution when approaching and entering construction zones. Speed limits will be enforced and fines increased.
Travel advisories will be posted on the project website at www.lehighbridge.com and motorists wishing to avoid delays should seek alternate routes. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather and subject to change
