Trevecca Softball Signs Dyersburg Product Shelby Andrews

NASHVILLE, TN (10/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Trevecca Head Softball Coach Ben Tyree announced the signing of Shelby Andrews to his 2013 team. Andrews, a recent graduate of Dyersburg (Tenn.) High School, excels on the field and in the classroom according to her former coach Steve Wilder.

"She is the hardest worker I've ever had both in the classroom and the field. She made us a better team by leading by example and putting the team first.

While at Dyersburg, Andrews was a two-time All-District and All-Region team selection as a junior and senior. She was also the MVP as a senior and Utility Player of the Year in her district. Andrews won her team's award for highest batting average, most runs scored and team MVP.

"Shelby is a versatile player that really play every position on the field," coach Tyree said.

This past summer, Andrews was a member of the 18-U Germantown Gold team.

Trevecca Nazarene University is a Christian liberal arts university located in Nashville, Tenn., Music City, USA. Now in its 111th year, Trevecca is committed to educate "leaders and servants" through undergraduate and graduate education. Trevecca's athletic teams are in the second year of a three year transition to NCAA Division ll status. Trevecca fields 11 intercollegiate teams that compete in the newly formed NCAA Division ll Great Midwest Athletic Conferece. Trevecca athletics also compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association. Trevecca offers baccalaureate degrees in 85 academic areas, three associate degrees, 21 master's degrees, and two doctorates (education and counseling psychology). One of Trevecca's newest programs is the master's of organizational leadership, a fully online program for persons who want to expand their opportunities to serve and lead.
