Trevecca Students Participate in Amazing Race: Mission Edition

NASHVILLE, TN (11/21/2013)(readMedia)-- Two sisters, both students at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn., participated in an exciting event for teens. Valerie Kiper, a senior nursing major, and  Ingrid Kiper, a senior intercultural studies major,  were two of five Trevecca students who recently participated in the "Amazing Race: Mission Edition––Take 2" for youth, held October 18-20, at Lake Placid, Florida.

The Amazing Race was the collaboration of three Church of the Nazarene international mission organizations. It was an event planned for young people as a way to teach them about mission work. Professor Kathy Mowry, a member of the faculty of Trevecca's Millard Reed School of Theology and Christian Ministry, and five students from Trevecca organized and executed the event for the 76 students and leaders while promoting Trevecca's mission program.

Valerie and Ingrid are very involved at Trevecca. Both are members of the Art Club and the Concert Team and also participate in mission trips led by Trevecca. Valerie is the chaplain of the Trevecca Residence Hall Association (RHA) for the women's apartments. Valerie plans for a career in nursing. Ingrid plans to teach English overseas as her career. Both served in missions trips this summer; Ingrid in China and Valerie in Kosovo.

The Kiper twins are natives of Hollywood, FL, and are the daughters of Rick and Judy Kiper.
