HERKIMER, NY (11/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College has named student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for October 2012.
Men's soccer goalkeeper Triston Henry, from Toronto, Ontario, was named the male athlete of the month. Henry helped lead the Generals to three consecutive shutouts in the Region III playoffs. He had a 2-0 shutout against Mohawk Valley Community College, a 2-0 shutout against Adirondack Community College and a 1-0 shutout against the #1 seed, Genesee Community College, where he made three saves in the last 15 minutes of the game. He allowed only seven goals in 16 games this season and had eight shutouts. "Triston has played tremendous in the post season so far. He made two of the most unbelievable saves against Genesee that I have ever seen," said coach Pepe Aragon. Henry is a freshman criminal justice major at HCCC.
HCCC's Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 35 national, 89 regional and 131 conference championships. Herkimer placed third in the 2011-12 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
