Troy Resident 1st Lt. Lauana Dupigny Takes Command of Troy-Based National Guard Company

TROY, NY (03/07/2013)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard 1st Lt. Lauana Dupigny, a Troy resident and a veteran of the Iraq War, took command of the Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division Headquarters Support Company here on Saturday March 2, 2013.

"One of the most challenging commands in the Army is the headquarters command," said Lt. Col. Christopher Daniels, Dupigny's superior. "She has done a tremendous job getting here and my hats off to Lt. Dupigny for her hard work and dedication."

She will replace Capt. Nathaniel King, a Long Island resident, who will be moving on to the 42nd Infanty Division operations staff (G-3)later this year.

Dupigny enlisted in the New York Army National Guard in 1997 and served eleven years as an enlisted Soldier-- reaching the rank of sergeant-- before receiving her commission as a second lieutenant in 2008.

 In 2005 she deployed as to Tikrit, Iraq with the 42nd Infantry Division as a member of the division's comptroller's section, or G-8.

"Thank you for the opportunity to stand before you today," Dupigny told the members of the company. "I would not have made it without your unwavering support."

The Headquaters Support Company of about 200 Soldiers provides support for the two-star general who commands the 42nd Infantry Division and his staff of officers and non-commissioned officers.

Dupigny is an employee of the New York National Guard in civilian life and has two sons Kyle and Quanni.
