Turnpike Seeking Customer Feedback on Downingtown to Valley Forge Section

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (11/14/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is seeking feedback from customers familiar with the Downingtown-to-Valley Forge portion of Interstate 76.in Chester and Montgomery Counties.

An 11-question survey focusing on the Downingtown-to-Valley Forge area will be offered online at www.paturnpike.com through the end of the month and next week at three Turnpike service plazas as final design work continues for the total reconstruction and six-lane widening of the roadway between Milepost 320 in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County and Milepost 326 in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.

Monday through Thursday (Nov. 15-18) representatives of the PTC will be available at the following Turnpike facilities asking patrons to complete the questionnaire.

• Valley Forge Service Plaza (EB only at milepost 324.6) - Mon. 11/15 (2 pm-6 pm) and Wed. 11/17 (10 am-2 pm)

• King of Prussia Service Plaza (WB only at milepost 328.4) - Tues. 11/16 (10 am-2 pm) and Wed. 11/17 (2 pm-6 pm)

• Peter J. Camiel Service Plaza (WB only at milepost 304.8) - Thur. 11/18 (10 am-2 pm)

The Milepost 320-326 Project will encompass most of the seven-mile eastern half of the Turnpike between Downingtown and Valley Forge, the busiest four-lane stretch of its east-west mainline at nearly 50,000 vehicles per day. A third travel lane 12 feet wide will be added each direction and the median separating the eastbound lanes from the westbound lanes will be widened from 10 to 26 feet. Work is scheduled to start in early 2013 and conclude in late 2015.

"We need to hear from our customers on several matters," said Turnpike CEO Joe Brimmeier. "I'm sure they will help us identify ways to improve the quality of their time on the turnpike."

The PTC began rebuilding its toll road system 13 years ago to add capacity, increase durability and enhance safety.
