Two Appointed to SUNY Delhi College Council

DELHI, NY (03/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Jhilmil Ghaleb of Cooperstown and Joseph E. Sutaris of Oneonta have been appointed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to the SUNY Delhi College Council.

The College Council is a 10-member body, with each member being appointed on a rotating basis. The primary function of the Council is to serve as an advisory board to the college president. All positions on the Council are non-salaried.

Jhilmil "Jill" Ghaleb has been an attorney for over 20 years and has been a solo practitioner with an office in Richfield Springs since 1994, with a strong concentration in Family Court matters. Ms. Ghaleb was selected by a Herkimer County Family Court Judge in 2004 to be a member of the Herkimer County Family Treatment Court Team. Beyond her extensive experience representing family law clients, she has handled estate work and has defended numerous individuals on misdemeanor and felony charges.

From 1991-1994, Ms. Ghaleb was engaged in private practice with a law firm in Utica, N.Y. She was employed as an attorney by Otsego County from 1995-2007.

Ms. Ghaleb was appointed by Governor David Paterson to serve as Otsego County Court Judge in 2008, presiding over three courts: Family Court, Surrogate's Court, and County Court with its criminal and civil divisions.

Ms. Ghaleb is a member of the Otsego County Bar Association Law Day Committee, and also is a Director of the Otsego County Bar Association. She is a member of the Herkimer County Bar Association, the Otsego County Bar Association, and the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, Mid-York Chapter. Ms. Ghaleb regularly serves her community and has held positions as president of the Richfield Springs Rotary, vice president and treasurer of the Susquehanna SPCA, and as a member of the Bassett Gala Committee since 1998.

Ms. Ghaleb holds a B.S. in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Utica College of Syracuse University and received her Juris Doctor (Law Degree) from New York Law School.

Joseph E. Sutaris is Senior Vice President and Regional Banking Executive of Community Bank N.A. (CBNA) in Oneonta. He serves as lead executive for CBNA's Central New York Region and is responsible for the performance of 22 branches located in the eight county CBNA Central New York Region. He joined CBNA in April 2011 after following a 16-year career with Wilber National. At Wilber, Mr. Sutaris led and implemented a broad range of initiatives in finance, accounting, administration, policy, business expansion, customer retention, and product development.

Committed to serving his community, Mr. Sutaris serves on the board of trustees for the Oneonta Family YMCA and has served in a number of volunteer positions for area organizations, which include Oneonta Little League and Oneonta Soccer Club coach, National Soccer Hall of Fame treasurer and vice chairman of Board of Directors, and Kiwanis Club of Oneonta, Inc. treasurer. He most recently has been appointed to A.O. Fox Hospital's Board of Directors.

Mr. Sutaris holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) – Finance and a Bachelor of Arts – Economics from Rutgers University.
