LOCK HAVEN, PA (04/26/2010)(readMedia)-- Lock Haven University announces the appointment of two new faculty to teach and manage their newly expanded Master of Health Science: Physician Assistant Program located at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg. Sarah K. Lewis PA-C joins the program as Assistant Professor and faculty member in charge of operations and Craig Ernst PA-C joins the program as Assistant Professor.
The Nationally Ranked Physician Assistant Program at Lock Haven University is expanding its program in an effort to train additional health care providers who will serve as primary care Physician Assistants in medically underserved populations located in the state of Pennsylvania. Professor Lewis will provide primary instruction for the 12 student cohort that will begin their education at the Dixon University Center this May.
The Dixon University Center, located on North Second Street in Harrisburg will host the program and will provide dedicated class and laboratory space, faculty and staff offices. The Dixon Center serves as the administrative hub of the PA State System of Higher Education and its 14 publicly owned universities. It provides a variety of educational, training, and cultural opportunities to the Harrisburg community.
Professor Lewis earned her Master of Health Science: Physician Assistant Degree from Lock Haven University in 2004. She is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She began her clinical experience in rural family medicine with Penns Valley Area Family Medicine. She then worked in emergency medicine with C.E.M.A. at Mount Nittany Medical Center, and then at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Emergency Department, where she continues to practice.
Professor Ernst earned his Master of Health Science: Physician Assistant Degree from Lock Haven University in 2002. Mr. Ernst is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Mr. Ernst has spent the last seven years in Cardiology at the Moffitt Heart and Vascular Group in Harrisburg.
